Usually, software installs are pretty straight-forward. You download and double-click or insert the DVD and autoplay takes over.
When installing software, always use the custom install when possible. This way, you can make sure you don’t get the bloatware that comes along with the software. You can disable toolbars, elect to keep your browser and homepage, and decline additional software.
Also, make sure the software you’re installing is the right software for your hardware. If you have a 32-bit processor, you cannot run 64-bit software. Most modern software is meant to allow installation on either platform, but check to be sure.
Generally speaking, we are only asked to install software for someone as part of a new PC setup or if a re-install of the operating system is necessary.
If you’re unsure about installing new software, or you just want to make sure you don’t muck it up, please feel free to give us a call. We typically charge $60 for software installs, with discounts for installing more than one program, or in conjunction with other services.
